Vacation Day #2

Woke up with a text message from my friend Brett from Michigan, "Hey we're in Georgia, we'll be to your house in 30 minutes." So I got up, showered, ate some food. Then Brett and his girlfriend showed up at my house. We spent the next several hours hanging around and talking.

The plan was to go to dinner at Henry's in Acworth, but we ran out of time.

Brett and his girlfriend crashed at my house since he had been driving all night.

We ended up picking up my friend Rob and his wife, Stacey. Also another friend, and we all went to Manuel's Tavern in Atlanta for "story night." There we met up with my friends Eric and Jables (plus some people that came with Jables), so we had a fairly big group of people all together.

I wasn't super impressed by the story night. They basically pick a theme, you put your name in a hat, and if they pick your name you go up and tell a story based on the theme. I think the theme was, "a time when you acted like a damned crybaby." Not to mention there was absolutely no where to sit. I was expecting people to be chit chatting or whatever, but it was deathfully quiet the whole time. Plus the service sucked. The servers were night enough but trying to get anything was like pulling teeth (maybe they were understaffed for that large event?). Plus a lot of the seats were taken by people that were just sitting there drinking water wtf. I'm sorry, you shouldnt be sitting at the bar if you're just gonna drink water.

Oh well, live and learn. I could definitely see myself hanging out at Manuel's in the future, but not for that story night stuff.

After that ended we went to Eric's house for pizza. So we stuck around there for an hour and a half, then drove home.

I spent the rest of the night trying a few new beers, and then crashing out fairly late.

Vacation Day #1

Soooo...

I work my ass off. I work two jobs. One is part time, the other is full time. All in all, I usually work about 48-60 hours a week.

Ever since I moved down to Georgia, I haven't really had a lot of "off" time. Which sucks, but whatever. I basically missed last summer because I was working so much. I decided that I'm not going to waste this summer, so I scheduled myself some vacation time. Plus, I had finally saved up enough paid time off to actually have a decent period of time off besides a day here and a day there.

The last real vacation I had was spending two weeks in Cancun back in February of 2008, so its been a while.

Right now I've got two weeks off, and I have absolutely nothing planned. Which is actually kind of cool. So I'm going to do a blog entry for each day I have off, and what I did.

I work the night shift, so I didn't wake up until about 3:30pm. I worked all weekend, and it was a bitch...Mostly because I was thinking that I was going to have all this time off to kick it and relax.

I should also mention that's rainy, humid, and hot as fuck down here in Atlanta right now.

I started my day by waking up and taking a nice relaxing shower. Great start. Then I realized that OH NO I'm out of face soap. So I put face soap on my shopping list. Then I got dressed and did my thing.

Next I jumped in my car to make a shopping trip.

#1, I went to Total Wine in Kennesaw. if you're not familiar with this place, its like beer heaven, basically. I picked up about 14 different beers to try over the next few weeks.

In fact, I bought enough that all of it wouldn't fit in my beer fridge. I'll be running reviews of some of that shit over the next few weeks, but I'm digressing at the moment.

#2, Hit up REI (an outdoors store). I'm thinking about going camping next week for the 4th of July and I was thinking I probably needed a few things. However, they didn't have any of the shit I wanted. Meh.

#3 Went to Hobby Lobby and bought some new canvases and more acrylic paint.

#4 Went to Walmart (meh). I picked up some food and a few things like lightbulbs etc etc.

Then I came home and started cleaning the house. Yea, I'm on vacation and cleaning. but I hate having a dirty house and I haven't had a lot of time to clean for the past year. So I got rid of some cobwebs and shit like that.

Then I busted out the ladder and changed the lightbulbs on the ceiling fan that is 14 feet up on the ceiling. You can see how awesome and bright it looks now! I didn't really do it sooner because I'm lazy as fuck, but whatever. It's a pain in the ass to drag the extension ladder in from my garage.

Besides cleaning and changing lightbulbs, I mostly just chilled. A good #1 day to vacation , all in all, and I've already tried three different new beers! A+
