With hot weather this weekend in Atlanta, I think it is important to
remind everybody to be aware of what you should and shouldn't be doing
out there. The highs will be in the 100s!
Here is a list on things to do and not to do during hot weather. But
basically I can say; Just don't plan on doing too much outside and
stay out of the sun!
Do
1. Use air conditioners or spend time in air-conditioned locations
such as malls and libraries.
2. Use portable electric fans to exhaust hot air from rooms or draw in
cooler air.
3. Take a cool bath or shower.
4. Avoid direct exposure to the sun as much as possible.
5. Stay hydrated. Drink water or other fluids. Avoid alcohol.
6. Wear loose fitting, light-colored clothes
Do NOT
1. Direct the flow of portable electric fans toward yourself when room
temperature is hotter than 90°f. You will unwittingly assist in
raising your body temperature, risking potential heat stroke.
2. Leave your children and pets alone in cars. Period. Not for even 1 minute.
3. Drink alcohol to try to stay cool. This will not work.
4. Eat a giant meal.
5. Wear heavy, dark clothing.
