Campfire Cooking

I rarely have the opportunity to cook over a campfire, but I've
recently found myself having a renewed interested in the subject.

There's a few important supplies you'll need, but the basic items are
cast iron cookware. Pots and pans of this type can take a lot of
punishment from a hot fire. They can be buried in coals, set on top of
coals, placed over direct fire, etc etc. Cast iron pots and pans will
also help distribute the heat more evenly than something made of
aluminum.

One simple thing you can make over a campfire is coffee. You will need
a pot and a strainer. Bring the water to a good boil and add whatever
amount of coffee to equal the strength you like. Generally it is 2
tablespoons per cup. Next, add a couple of eggshells. Remove from the
fire and stir well. Next, pour the coffee from the pot through the
strainer into your coffee cup. I promise you, it will be the most
delicious cup of coffee you've ever tried.

Another simple item to cook over a campfire is eggs in a hole with
bacon. To make eggs in a hole you grease a cast iron pan/pot. Place
this directly over the fire. This is going to make the food cook
really quickly, because it is going to be hot. So do the next steps
fairly quick and don't fuck around too much. First you remove the
center of a piece of bread. Drop all the bread into the pot. Crack an
egg and drop it into the center of the bread crust. Cover and let it
cook until the bread gets toasty (like a grilled cheese). Flip it, add
salt n pepper. Remove before it burns. Put some butter on the center
piece of bread and now you've got a little piece of toast. Eat the egg
in a whole like its a little fuckin sandwich. That shits so good! Its
my favorite thing to make over a fire.
