Should Sunday package sales of beer and wine should be allowed?
In case you don't know, Alcohol can be consumed at many sports events, restaurants and bars in Georgia on Sundays, but it can't be sold in grocery or liquor stores.
Recently, the Georgia state legislative bodies passed a law stating that it will be up to the local muncipalities to decide whether to allow Sunday alcohol sales or not. Most municipalities pushed the question onto the next election ballot immediately. Cherokee County included.
The question on Cherokee County's ballot will read: "Shall the governing authority of Cherokee County, Georgia, be authorized to permit and regulate package sales by retailers of both malt beverages and wine on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.?"
I fully support allowing Sunday alcohol sales. I don't understand why anyone with common sense would be opposed to Sunday alcohol sales in Georgia.
However, some Georgia lawmakers, showing their complete lack of intelligence, have made statements opposing Sunday Alcohol sales in Georgia. For example, Sen. Bill Cowsert, a Republican from Athens, stated, "You're going to have... more deaths, more injuries if we pass this bill."
So Tuesday, November 8th, Vote Yes to Sunday Alcohol Sales in Cherokee County!
