DIY Sunday: Framing a basement

These are some photos I took of a carpentry job I did in 2001. There was major flood damage to a basement, mold was growing, and it required the complete demolition and reconstruction.

Since this is a non-load bearing wall 2"x1" suffices. Stagger them so you can fit foam insulation in between. Pop the foam in and tape it into place until the drywall can be put up.

Framing around the furnace was pretty dumb, since if the furnace ever needs to be replaced then the whole wall would need to come out, fucking up my beautiful work. But its what the homeowner wanted, so whateva.

Frame the duct work with whatever wood you have lying around. I think I did this with some old pieces of fence wood. As long as it can hold the drywall up, you're gold.
